Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Cook to prepare fresh, nutritious meals for residents and guests. You will work with the culinary director to craft traditional and global dishes, focusing on from-scratch cooking and seasonal menus using fresh local ingredients.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of kitchen experience, strong knife skills, and knowledge of dietary restrictions for seniors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Culinary School is a plus, or the equivalent of education and experience.
• Food Handler Card with an understanding of kitchen sanitation and food codes.
• At least 1 year of experience in full-service kitchen environments.
• Ability to read and execute a recipe.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals following established menus and dietary guidelines.
• Set up and break down work areas in a timely fashion.
• Keep all stations clean and sanitized.
• Collaborate with dining services to ensure timely meal service.
• Check and restock foods for proper service.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Participate in training sessions including food handling and safety certifications.
• Ensure safe handling and storage of cleaning supplies.
