Job summary

Distinctive Living is seeking a full-time Cook for our Brooklyn Pointe Community in Brooklyn. The role supports the Restaurant and Hospitality Department, ensuring quality meals, service excellence, and adherence to special diets as required.

You'll work under the Director, Restaurant and Hospitality, focusing on resident satisfaction, food safety, and collaborative team operations to deliver a positive dining experience for residents and guests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year of experience in food service is required.
• Minimum of three years' experience in food service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Director, Restaurant and Hospitality with planning, directing, controlling, communicating, and coaching in the Food Service Department.
• Follows the Menu Program that meets nutritional requirements and adheres to approved purchasing practices.
• Responds to resident likes and dislikes to maintain high resident satisfaction and ensure meals meet safety standards.
• Maintains food temperatures and time controls; uses equipment safely and stores and dates all food items properly.
• Ensures staff deliver good resident experiences during meal times and circulates in the dining room to gauge satisfaction.
• Provides input on new hires and training within the dietary department and supports evaluations with the Director, Restaurant and Hospitality.
• Maintains a clean kitchen, including equipment, walls, storage, cooking and preparation surfaces, and dish storage areas.
• Works safely and addresses potentially hazardous conditions; adheres to safety standards.
• Fosters teamwork and a proactive attitude to assist others and positively impact residents and visitors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
