Job summary

Village of The Heights is hiring cooks to prepare a variety of meals for residents, ensuring dietary needs are met and quality is high. You will monitor temperatures, presentations, and cleanliness, while supporting stock management and training of new kitchen staff.

This full-time role requires physical stamina, teamwork, and adherence to sanitation guidelines, with weekend/holiday availability and participation in community programs as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; culinary school training is a plus.
• Food handler certification within 60 days.
• 6 months to 1 year of cook experience.
• Experience with cutting tools, cookware and bakeware.
• Knowledge of grilling, baking, boiling, etc.
• Follow sanitation procedures.
• Team player with good communication.
• Excellent physical condition and stamina.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals per recipes.
• Adhere to residents' dietary needs and restrictions.
• Monitor temperature, taste and quality; taste dishes.
• Use utensils and grillers to cook and turn as needed.
• Dress dishes for presentation before serving.
• Keep kitchen sanitized and orderly; clean equipment.
• Store all food properly; maintain freshness and safety.
• Check ingredient quality and stock levels; place orders as needed.
• Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines and document accordingly.
• Assist in training new kitchen staff.
• Attend required in-service trainings.
• Maintain professional appearance and hygiene.
