Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living is seeking a Programming/Activity Assistant to plan and deliver activities that meet residents’ emotional, social and cognitive needs. You will support the Activity Director and help create an engaging seven-day program for aging and disabled residents in a caring environment.

You will lead individual and group activities, tailor programs to each resident’s abilities, and encourage participation.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or bachelor’s degree and knowledge of aging and disability issues.
• Knowledge in recreational activities.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and stay positive under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a seven-day-a-week activity program that is engaging.
• Lead one-on-one, small group and large group activities according to the schedule.
• Support independent activity pursuits for residents.
• Understand residents’ backgrounds and abilities to tailor programs.
• Encourage residents to participate in programming and activities.
• Communicate changes in resident condition to Harbor Care Director.
• Stay with group during excursions.
