Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living in Newtown, CT, seeks a compassionate Programming/Activity Assistant to organize and implement activities for residents, designed to meet psychological, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, and emotional needs. You will support the Activity Director, lead individual and group activities, and help residents pursue meaningful engagement in a caring environment.

Requirements include high school diploma or higher, training in recreational activities and dementia care,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher with knowledge of aging and disability issues.
• Experience/training in recreational activities.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s/dementias.
• Maintains confidentiality and manages multiple tasks under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a seven-day activity program that is engaging.
• Lead one-on-one, small group and large group activities according to schedule.
• Support independent activity pursuits and encourage participation.
• Coordinate care activities by framing them as meaningful activities for residents.
• Observe residents’ conditions and report changes to the Activity Director.
