Job summary

Qualifications

• Sympathetic attitude toward care of the elderly.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
• Experience caring for elderly residents is preferred.
• Certificate in therapeutic recreation or activities is a plus.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Office apps.

Responsibilities

• Plan monthly activity calendar to meet residents' physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial needs.
• Coordinate group and one-on-one activities, including outings and in-home programs.
• Schedule activities with minimum durations and balance daily workload.
• Create and post the monthly calendar in a visible location before the month starts.
• Email families and guardians with the calendar and provide resident copies.
• Ensure required materials are available for activities.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
• Assess residents' psychosocial needs and contribute to care plans.
• Encourage resident participation in activities and outings.
• Maintain monthly activity budget including staff costs and entertainers.
• Participate in resident and family council meetings about activities.
• Coordinate with outside entertainers and schedule them as needed.
• Plan and attend outings; assist with resident care where appropriate.
• Adhere to safety regulations and organizational policies.
• Communicate professionally with residents and families.
• Decorate home for seasons and holidays and plan related events.
