Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living in Abingdon, VA invites applications for an Activity Assistant to support the Resident Programs team in planning, organizing, and leading daily activities that engage all residents. You will also provide transportation for residents as needed and assist the Program Director with scheduling and execution of events.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and experience in senior living; driving responsibilities require a valid license and insurable record.

Qualifications

• High school degree required; college experience preferred but not necessary.
• Experience in a senior living environment strongly preferred.
• Two years’ experience in activities strongly preferred.
• Strong computer skills and general healthcare knowledge.
• Must have a clear and insurable driving record, valid driver’s license, and willingness to drive a passenger van.

Responsibilities

• Assist Resident Programs team in planning, developing, and preparing activities and events.
• Conduct all transportation for residents, including medical transportation as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of community services and events to incorporate into activity schedules.
• Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents and staff.
• Promote teamwork and monitor activities with other disciplines as necessary.
• Evaluate and adjust activity quality and consistency; implement changes as needed.
• Other duties as assigned
