Job summary

The Ivy Berkeley is seeking an Activity Assistant to organize, schedule, promote, facilitate, and direct activities and excursions to enhance residents’ independence and quality of life. This part-time role supports a vibrant senior living community managed by Oakmont Management Group in Berkeley, CA.

You’ll assist the Activity Director, recruit volunteers, and help ensure a safe, engaging environment while coordinating programs for residents and families.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prefer one (1) year of experience coordinating or teaching activities with seniors.
• Requires current Class C license with Passenger Endorsement (Class B/C preferred).
• Able to operate a personal computer and be proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Must pass a Criminal Background check and Health Screening tests, including physical and TB Tests.
• Potential vaccination/testing and PPE may be required to protect health and safety per regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Activity Director in providing an interesting, creative, and rewarding social atmosphere throughout the Community and promoting resident participation through regularly scheduled high-quality activities, excursions, special events, guest speakers, movie showings, exercise sessions, clubs, games, and educational classes.
• Develop, recruit, manage and schedule Community Volunteers as requested.
• Communicate effectively and display tact and friendliness with residents, families, visitors, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests, following established safety standards.
• Able to drive Community vehicles.
• Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.
