Job summary

Merrill Gardens in Hillsboro, Oregon is seeking a caring Active Living Assistant to support residents on their wellness journey and foster dignity and individuality in daily living.

This full-time role includes designing and delivering engaging activities, coordinating family events, and ensuring resident needs are met with a compassionate, professional approach. A valid driver’s license and prior senior living experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years related experience, training, or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Senior living experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement activities with input from the Active Living Program Director.
• Deliver, lead, or conduct activities in a timely and engaging manner.
• Coordinate at least one family activity per month.
• Present a professional demeanor reflecting service and resident-focused care.
• Familiarize yourself with residents and their needs to tailor activities.
• Transport residents to activities and outings using the community bus/van.
• Observe residents’ daily living abilities and communicate opportunities to team members.
• Encourage and motivate residents across all activities and participate in trainings.
• Cover duties of Activities staff in their absence.
