Job summary

Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, a skilled nursing facility in Dutchess County, New York, seeks a full-time Recreational Assistant to lead residents in scheduled activities including music, arts and crafts, and fitness.

Sundays and some evenings are required. You will plan, promote, and support engaging programs, assist with transportation, and help residents connect with loved ones through video calls.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience facilitating activity programs for residents with dementia.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds and be on your feet for long durations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and promote recreation programs for individuals and groups.
• Encourage participation in daily activities.
• Visit bed-bound residents and provide recreation services.
• Assist with monthly recreation calendar.
• Assist with volunteer program, admission assessments, and community interaction programs.
• Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes each individual’s needs and rights.
• Assist in the transportation of residents to and from activities.
• Assist residents by scheduling and facilitating FaceTime, WhatsApp, and Zoom, video calls.
• Maintain accurate record of activity attendance.
