Vernis & Bowling in Jackson, Mississippi, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our civil litigation defense team. This on-site role focuses on heavy discovery and trial preparation, requiring meticulous docket management with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in General Liability or civil defense, strong knowledge of Mississippi Rules of Civil Procedure, and proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of paralegal experience in General Liability or civil defense.
• Strong knowledge of Mississippi Rules of Civil Procedure and local filing protocols.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Pro; familiarity with e-discovery platforms.
• Ability to synthesize complex case data and maintain organization in a high-volume litigation environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft, prepare, and review substantive legal documents including pleadings and motions for summary judgment.
• Manage the complete discovery lifecycle including interrogatories and subpoenas.
• Synthesize and summarize medical records, deposition transcripts, and court files for attorney review.
• Conduct targeted legal research to support motion practice and trial strategy.
• Coordinate case logistics and strategy with experts, witnesses, clients, and opposing counsel.
• Drive trial preparation by assembling notebooks, managing digital exhibits, and coordinating trial data.
