Job summary

Butler Snow LLP in Ridgeland, MS seeks an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal to balance high-level file management with courtroom experience. Based full-time in our Ridgeland office, you will manage a robust caseload, coordinate heavy discovery, and drive critical litigation projects, including live trials.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience with direct trial experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Westlaw or LexisNexis for legal research.
  • Ability to capture and record billable hours accurately.
  • Paralegal Certificate or undergraduate degree from an accredited program preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Draft complex legal correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, orders and notices.
  • Maintain master case calendars and track critical deadlines.
  • Own trial preparation, manage trial logistics, exhibits and notebooks, and cite checks.
  • Oversee large document productions and organize data sets.
  • Review and summarize medical records and deposition transcripts for trial use.
  • Electronically file pleadings via ECF or file conventionally as required.
  • Conduct deep legal research using Westlaw or LexisNexis.
  • Coordinate communication among clients, witnesses, vendors, opposing counsel, and trial teams.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and Director of Practice Support on firm goals.

Trial Litigation Paralegal - Ridgeland, MS

Our litigation team is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal who balances high‑level file management with battle‑tested courtroom experience. This position is based full‑time in our Ridgeland, MS office, where you will manage a robust daily caseload, coordinate heavy discovery, and drive critical litigation projects. However, when a case is set for court, you will step into a pivotal role. We are explicitly seeking candidates with a proven track record of handling live trials. If you are an adaptable professional who excels at managing complex office‑based projects and thrives under the pressure of an active trial, we want you on our team.

What You’ll Do

Case & Core Litigation Management: Draft complex legal correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, orders, and notices. Accurately maintain master case calendars and track critical deadlines.

Trial Preparedness & Courtroom Logistics: Take ownership of the trial‑preparation phase. Manage all trial logistics, compile exhibit lists, build flawless trial notebooks, number exhibits, and conduct case law cite‑checks.

Data & Large‑Scale Document Production: Oversee, categorize, and organize massive document productions (often spanning thousands of pages). Sort, index, and manipulate data to keep complex files organized.

Medical & Deposition Summaries: Review, analyze, and summarize detailed medical records, deposition transcripts, and discovery responses into actionable insights for the trial team.

Court Filings: Electronically file (e‑file) pleadings and motions through ECF, or file conventionally within county courts as required.

Legal Research & Investigation: Conduct deep‑div dive research into complex legal issues using Westlaw or LexisNexis. Assist with fact‑checking, witness interviews, and evidence investigation.

Strategic Communication: Act as a primary liaison between clients, expert witnesses, vendors, opposing counsel, and internal trial teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Firm Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and the Director of Practice Support to achieve firm goals and handle other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

The Experience: Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience, backed by a proven, successful track record of direct trial experience.

Technical Mastery: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and specialized legal tech, with experience capturing and recording billable hours.

Research Skills: Strong capability utilizing Westlaw or LexisNexis for comprehensive legal research.

Medical Literacy: Direct experience reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing complex medical records.

Education: A Paralegal Certificate or an undergraduate degree from an accredited paralegal program is highly desired.

Professional Attributes: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a high degree of client focus, and the absolute attention to detail required to work both independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
