Job summary

Brown Sims PC in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join a busy civil litigation practice. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with attorneys on cases from initial investigation through depositions and trial preparations.

The role emphasizes direct client contact, meticulous handling of medical records, time-entry compliance, and e-filing in Texas state and federal courts. A paralegal certificate or equivalent experience is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in insurance defense, personal injury, or general civil litigation.
• Experience with medical records — HIPAA-compliant handling and creating useful chronologies.
• Strong knowledge of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Federal Rules; e-filing in state courts and PACER/CM-ECF.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; professional with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and counsel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and document/case management platforms.
• Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients, witnesses, vendors, courts, and adjusters; provide status updates and gather case info.
• Manage medical records end-to-end; organize, review, summarize, and prepare chronologies.
• Drive case investigation; locate witnesses, pull public records, coordinate with investigators and experts.
• Prepare and file pleadings in Texas state and federal courts (e-filing required).
• Draft subpoenas, deposition notices, records authorizations, and routine correspondence.
• Prepare deposition/hearing binders, summaries, exhibit indices, and trial notebooks.
• Track and enter billable time in compliance with client guidelines.
