Job summary

Kelly M. Davis & Associates, LLC in the Dallas–Fort Worth area is seeking a senior paralegal to support its litigation practice. You will work closely with the Managing Partner, handling independent matters and tracking deadlines across the firm’s docket.

The role requires substantial recent litigation experience, preferably in construction disputes, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, draft discovery responses, and prepare for trials and hearings. Office hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certification, or a legal studies degree with legal assistant certification; otherwise, 10+ years of recent litigation experience.
• Significant, recent litigation experience required; construction litigation strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of rules of evidence and civil procedure.
• Regular, direct contact with courts, opposing counsel, and clients requires confidence and professionalism.
• Completion of a skills assessment is required before an interview.
• Employment is contingent on a 90 day probationary period.
• Minimum billable requirement of 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Main legal assistant to the Managing Partner.
• Draft initial responses to discovery.
• Obtain, organize, and summarize documents from clients in response to discovery.
• Determine which documents are responsive to discovery requests.
• Calculate and calendar scheduling order deadlines.
• Draft correspondence and pleadings.
• Prepare for and attend trials and major hearings, including second chair responsibilities.
• Provide guidance and oversight to other staff on assigned matters.
• Must track all time in the firm's management software.
