Job summary

Vernis & Bowling in Jackson, Mississippi seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support our civil litigation defense team on-site. The role emphasizes heavy discovery, trial preparation, and docket management with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of paralegal experience in general liability or civil defense, strong research abilities, and proficiency with MS 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and e-discovery platforms. Local knowledge of MS procedures is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of dedicated paralegal experience in General Liability or civil defense.
• Ability to manage a defense docket with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with MS 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and e-discovery tools.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Draft, prepare, and review substantive legal documents including pleadings and briefs.
• Manage the discovery lifecycle, including interrogatories and subpoenas.
• Summarize voluminous medical records, transcripts, and court files for attorneys.
• Conduct targeted legal research to support motions and trial strategy.
• Coordinate case logistics with experts, witnesses, clients, and opposing counsel.
• Assist in trial preparation, including trial notebooks and digital exhibits.
