Job summary

Considine Search is seeking a Senior Litigation Paralegal in New York to support firm attorneys with case management, deposition prep, and trial coordination.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate team needs; organize and maintain all case documents, electronic and otherwise.
  • Oversee handling of files between offices.
  • Extensive interaction with IS regarding technology issues.
  • Stay current with technology and firm initiatives.
  • Direct and delegate work for junior paralegals, where appropriate.
  • Maintain calendar for each team.
  • Assist with mediation and trial preparation.
  • Under supervision, gather and prepare documents for depositions; organize binders and exhibits.
  • Digest transcripts to summarize highlights of proceedings.
  • Under supervision, prepare and e-file state court documents; distribute copies as needed.
  • Review trial materials; coordinate with vendors and prepare courtroom setup.
  • Lead paralegal efforts in document collection and production; supervise juniors.
  • Coordinate with E-Discovery and Reprographics on collection/production goals.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in training programs.

Summary

A premier, global law firm seeks a Senior Litigation Paralegal to provide paralegal support to the firm’s attorneys and staff. Responsibilities include preparing and updating document binders and electronic case files, managing case calendars, deposition preparation support, and working with attorneys and the Managing Attorney’s Office (MAO) in the preparation and filing of all court documents and trial support. The position requires flexibility in availability, as substantial overtime will be required on occasion.

Responsibilities
Case Management
  • Anticipate team needs; organize and maintain all case documents, electronic and otherwise
  • Oversee handling of files between offices
  • Extensive interaction with IS regarding technology issues
  • Stay current with technology and firm initiatives
  • Direct and delegate work for junior paralegals, where appropriate
  • Maintain calendar for each team
  • Assist with mediation and trial preparation
Deposition and Witness Interview Preparation
  • Under the supervision and direction of firm attorneys, gather and prepare documents
  • Prepare printed and/or electronic binders and organize exhibits
  • Handle exhibits and take notes during depositions, if requested
  • Digest transcripts to summarize highlights of proceedings
Court Filings
  • Under the supervision and direction of firm attorneys and the MAO, prepare and e-file state court documents
  • Prepare and distribute paper copies where required
Trial Preparation and Attendance
  • Under the guidance of a Senior Case Manager, review all trial documents (exhibits, designations, etc.)
  • Organize all trial materials and maintain case calendar
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding graphics, technical support, reprographics, etc.
  • Prepare courtroom and “war room” setup, attend trial, and keep time
  • Provide document management support during trial
  • Review trial transcripts; update exhibit lists, demonstratives, etc.
  • Under the supervision and direction of firm attorneys, coordinate with other firms, court clerks, and court reporters
Document Collection and Production
  • Serve as lead paralegal in document collection efforts
  • Delegate work to junior paralegals and supervise their activities with respect to document collections, document productions, and database management
  • Coordinate with E-Discovery and Reprographics in accomplishing document collection and production goals
  • Lead projects relating to privilege and redaction projects and logs
Additional Departmental Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with and oversee the progress of projects through litigation support departments and outside vendors
  • Order transcripts from reporting services; fulfill requests from firm attorneys, outside counsel, and others
  • Actively participate in activities aimed at improving the paralegal department, including serving as a mentor to junior paralegals
  • Participate in paralegal training programs, including teaching orientation classes to incoming paralegals
  • Lead by example in adhering to all departmental policies

This is a hybrid work schedule (4 days in office, one day remote). Standard hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in a 35-hour work week.

Compensation

$100,000.00 to $115,000.00 annually plus overtime and bonus.
