Job summary

Lewis Brisbois in Dallas, TX seeks a senior-level legal secretary with litigation experience to support a minimum of four attorneys. The role includes docketing, scheduling travel, depositions, meetings, filings, and serving documents in state and federal courts.

The ideal candidate will handle document preparation, matter openings, financial tasks, and be proficient in MS Word and the Microsoft Office Suite, working with a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, with least three to four years of legal experience.
• Background in General Civil Litigation or trial prep preferred; consumer financial services, bankruptcy or commercial litigation helpful.

Responsibilities

• Independently file and serve pleadings, motions, responses and discovery in Texas State and Federal courts (including Notice of Removal, Dispositive Motions and Discovery Motions).
• Manage Calendars, travel, appointments, depositions, and hearings, tracking deadlines and coordinating hearing settings with court personnel.
• Prepare shells of pleadings, discovery requests, responses, Notice of Deposition, and Subpoenas from templates.
• Coordinate service of subpoenas with process servers/vendors, Bates label and produce documents, and prepare Tables of Authorities and hearing binders.
• Handle document production and logistics: order court reporters, interpreters, videographers and conference rooms as needed.
• Proofread pleadings and correspondence for typos and grammar, format documents in MS Word.
• Draft correspondence and communicate with opposing parties, courts and clients.
• Perform general administrative and financial tasks: answer phones, mail, open new matters, close files, process invoices.
