Job summary

Illinois Department of Early Childhood seeks a Legal Counsel – Litigation to manage IDEC's litigation portfolio, advise on court orders, statutes, and agency policies, and support the Deputy General Counsel.

This role involves collaborating with the Attorney General’s Office, handling subpoenas, drafting documents, and performing legal research, with a hybrid in-office schedule and opportunities to influence agency actions.

Qualifications

• Requires Juris Doctor (JD) and Illinois law license.
• Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the practice of law.
• Requires valid license to practice law in Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Legal Counsel - Litigation for the Illinois Department of Early Childhood (IDEC).
• Assist the Deputy General Counsel in preparation of litigation for hearings.
• Provide interpretation of court orders, statutes and regulations for IDEC implementation.
• Develop responses to Office of Inspector General recommendations as assigned.
• Perform other duties within the scope of duties enumerated.
