Job summary

Disability Rights California (DRC) seeks a Litigation Counsel to shape our litigation and advocacy vision, providing leadership and mentorship to practice group attorneys on state and federal court litigation. You will develop and implement advocacy strategies and collaborate with coalition partners to advance the rights of disabled Californians.

The role emphasizes excellence, intersectional understanding, and movement‑building using law to achieve systemic change.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a Juris Doctor degree plus 9 years of experience practicing law.
• Internal candidates, if employed at DRC for four continuous years and with eight years of experience practicing law, may also apply.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead systemic litigation addressing needs of disabled Californians, including youth.
• Develop policy and systems-change advocacy initiatives at the state level.
• Mentor and train practice group attorneys in litigation and policy advocacy.
• Monitor, summarize, and analyze case law, legislation, and policy for staff and organizations.
• Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to address issues faced by clients.
