Job summary

Disability Rights California is seeking a Senior Attorney to lead and collaborate on impact litigation and advocacy initiatives that advance housing stability and access for people with disabilities. The role emphasizes mentorship, strategic leadership, and cross-team collaboration with attorneys, advocates, and social workers.

The Senior Attorney will supervise litigation efforts, develop training materials, and work under the Managing Attorney to ensure compliance with federal and state grant

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and admitted to the California State Bar.
• Minimum seven years of experience practicing law (six years for internal candidates).
• Four years of successful results in litigation including class actions, complex litigation, and appeals.
• Experience in disability rights law and related areas such as civil rights and housing.
• Ability to lead multiple, complex advocacy projects and collaborate with others.
• Commitment to working with people with disabilities, low-income clients, and equity principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead, and participate in litigation independently with appropriate supervision.
• Meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and ethics.
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, administrative and judicial proceedings.
• Supervise and mentor attorneys, advocates, fellows, clerks, and interns.
• Prepare and coordinate training materials, publications, and presentations.
