Job summary

Confidential Employer in the Hudson Valley seeks a senior litigator to lead construction litigation and medical malpractice matters. Take ownership of cases through discovery, depositions, hearings, mediation, trial, and resolution, with direct client interaction and strategic guidance.

You will mentor junior lawyers and supervise discovery while developing tailored strategies. This on-site position in Poughkeepsie, NY requires NY State Bar admission and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active New York State Bar admission.
• 5+ years of construction litigation and/or medical malpractice litigation experience.
• Ability to independently manage sophisticated litigation matters.
• Strong deposition, discovery, motion practice, and case strategy experience.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction litigation and/or medical malpractice cases through all phases of litigation.
• Take ownership of commercial and civil litigation matters from initial assessment through trial or resolution.
• Draft and argue pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive litigation documents.
• Lead discovery, including document production, written discovery, and depositions.
• Conduct and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, conferences, and trials.
• Develop litigation strategies that align with client objectives and case-specific goals.
• Analyze complex legal and factual issues and provide practical, business-oriented advice.
• Work directly with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and other parties throughout litigation.
• Manage case strategy, deadlines, documentation, and junior team members as appropriate.
• Collaborate with attorneys and support professionals while independently driving matters forward.

Location

This is an on-site position in Poughkeepsie, New York. You'll work closely with an experienced litigation team while taking significant ownership of complex matters and client relationships.

Note:

Candidates must be admitted to the New York State Bar and have 5+ years of construction litigation and/or medical malpractice litigation experience. Attorneys with 1+ year of directly relevant experience may also be considered for a separate junior-level opportunity with our team.
