Job description

GPMZ is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney with 3-8+ years of Insurance Defense and/or Commercial Litigation experience to join our growing team.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who can independently manage an active caseload while working collaboratively with senior attorneys and firm leadership. This role is best suited for an attorney who is ready to take ownership of their docket, contribute strategically to litigation efforts, mentor junior team members, and continue developing as a litigator and advocate. Candidates with insurance defense experience are preferred, and trial experience is highly valued.

This position offers significant hands-on litigation experience, as well as a clear path for professional development and advancement within a respected and established law firm.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas
  • Minimum of three (3) years of litigation experience
  • Insurance defense and/or commercial litigation experience strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical, legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills
  • Strong organizational and case management skills with attention to deadlines and detail
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a litigation docket from inception through resolution
  • Experience handling hearings, depositions, mediations, and client communications. Trial and arbitration experience is a plus
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Litigation Strategy and Case Management
    • Independently manage a docket of complex litigation matters from initial case evaluation through resolution
    • Develop and execute litigation strategies in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys
    • Maintain ownership of deadlines, court settings, discovery obligations, and client reporting
    • Draft substantive motions, pleadings, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and legal correspondence
    • Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other litigation proceedings
    • Effectively advocate for clients in both written and oral presentations
  • Discovery and Depositions
    • Manage all aspects of discovery, including written discovery and document review
    • Take and defend depositions of parties, witness, and experts
    • Analyze case evidence and develop strategic approaches to discovery and litigation positioning
    • Appear in state and federal courts, mediations, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings
    • Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution efforts
    • Trial preparation, witness preparation, and courtroom strategy as needed
    • Work closely with partners and litigation team members on case strategy and client service
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior associates and support staff
