Job summary

fab2, an early-stage hardware startup with offices in Austin, TX, is seeking a Senior Lithography Research Engineer to lead novel patterning hardware development. This autonomous R&D role aims to achieve precise geometry at lower node sizes and to design, simulate, and fabricate advanced patterning hardware.

You will collaborate with the process team to integrate patterning hardware with deposition, development, and etch steps, and you will drive the project from concept to working prototypes

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in physics, optics, EE, materials science, or related field.
• Experience with applied optics and experimental optics/metrology.
• Hands-on nanofabrication and sub-micron patterning expertise.
• Strong lithography and patterning hardware design background.
• Ability to plan and execute autonomous R&D from idea to prototype.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end development, simulation, and fabrication of novel patterning hardware.
• Drive exploratory R&D across optical design and nanofabrication.
• Simulate optical and nanophotonic behavior to guide experiments.
• Interface with the process team to integrate patterning hardware with deposition, development, and etch steps.
