Job summary

fab2 in Austin, TX is seeking a Process Development Engineer to lead experimental design and execution of semiconductor and thin‑film fabrication methods. You will own recipes across multiple tools and mentor teams in a fast‑moving startup environment.

Candidates should have a PhD with extensive nanofabrication experience, hands‑on cleanroom work, and a track record of developing process recipes from scratch. The role offers a comprehensive compensation package including equity.

Qualifications

  • PhD with 10+ years of nanofabrication experience.
  • Experience operating deposition, etch, lithography, and metrology tools.
  • Hands-on cleanroom experience and multi-step fabrication know-how.
  • Ability to digest large bodies of literature and translate to experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the lab to design and run experiments alongside senior process engineers
  • Read academic papers and technical literature to inform experimental design; whiteboard ideas and iterate quickly
  • Learn and operate a range of semiconductor tools, including deposition, etch, lithography, and metrology systems
  • Develop, transfer, and optimize process recipes across platforms with a focus on consistency, yield, and throughput
  • Analyze process data, troubleshoot recipe or equipment issues, and clearly document findings and results for the team
