Job summary

fab2 is a fast-moving startup in Austin, TX seeking a Staff Process Development Engineer to design and run experiments and develop nanofabrication recipes from scratch.

You’ll work hands-on in a lab with etch, deposition, lithography, and metrology tools, driving yield and throughput while translating literature into actionable processes. The role offers autonomy and opportunity to influence tool design.

Qualifications

• PhD with 10+ years developing nanofabrication processes and mentoring teams.
• Hands-on experience in dry etch, thin film deposition, and lithography.
• Familiarity with ellipsometry, profilometry, SEM or similar metrology.

Responsibilities

• Design and run experiments in the lab alongside senior process engineers.
• Read papers and literature to inform experimental design and iterate quickly.
• Learn and operate semiconductor tools including etch, deposition, lithography and metrology systems.
• Develop and optimize process recipes across platforms with focus on consistency, yield, and throughput.
• Document findings and communicate results clearly to the team.
