Job summary

Lyten, Inc. seeks a Senior Lithium Process Engineer to own and optimize lithium foil manufacturing from lab to production. You will run extrusion and rolling mill operations on a Roll-to-Roll system, controlling pressure, temperature, and speed to meet specs.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in R2R processes, metal extrusion, and handling alkali metals, with proven DOE/SPC experience and excellent documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with 3+ years in related field, or Bachelor's with 5+ years in Materials Science/Engineering.
• Solid understanding of Roll-to-Roll manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience operating or troubleshooting metal extrusion and/or rolling mill equipment.
• Experience handling reactive, air-sensitive, or hazardous materials in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience handling alkali metals (Lithium/Sodium).
• Working knowledge of DOE, SPC, and process capability analysis.
• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent documentation skills (SOPs, work instructions, process specs).
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own development and optimization of Lithium foil manufacturing processes, from lab to full production scale.
• Lead DOE and SPC efforts to improve extrusion and rolling mill consistency and yield.
• Operate extruder and rolling mill to extrude lithium into strips and mill to thin foils on a Roll-to-Roll system.
• Control hydraulic pressure, die temperatures, and extrusion speed to hit target specs.
• Troubleshoot extrusion defects and rolling defects; drive yield improvements.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions across the line.
