Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to help expand and secure a scalable Linux footprint in a complex, secure setting.

You will implement automation, deploy and maintain an HPC cluster, and collaborate with users to resolve Linux-related issues while ensuring security controls are applied throughout the environment.

Qualifications

• BS degree (Computer Science preferred) or 5+ years experience.
• 5+ years Linux System Admin experience.
• Automated deployment of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Configuration management with Ansible and Puppet.
• Shell scripting and task automation proficiency.
• Ability to work independently on varied tasks.
• IAT Level II Certification or Security+ CE.
• U.S. citizenship; ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Linux servers and workstations; perform root cause analysis and scripting.
• Contribute to provisioning and configuration management using Atlassian Suite, Cobbler, and Ansible.
• Monitor systems with security and logging tools like Solarwinds, Symantec, and Splunk.
• Assist users with Linux-related support tickets.
• Build workstations and servers with security controls and documentation.
• Support HPC workloads development.
