Job summary

Probity in Chantilly, VA is seeking a senior Linux engineer to maintain and improve the Sponsor’s Linux software and hardware environment. You will ensure operating system integration with hardware and applications across the organization and keep servers running reliably.

The role requires 10+ years of Linux server experience, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and a active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, OR 10 years of related technical experience.
• 10+ years configuring and maintaining Linux servers.
• Experience with Centrify, LDAP, and Active Directory.
• Experience applying security patches in Linux environments.
• Strong shell scripting experience.
• Ability to manage a large, complex server environment.

Responsibilities

• Planning, testing, installing, integrating, and maintaining Linux OS versions.
• Building and hardening Linux servers; establishing configuration baselines.
• Applying patches in a timely manner and contributing to patch management plans.
• Developing test plans and procedures.
• Replacing server hardware components as needed.
• Testing and integrating software and hardware.
• Managing OS lifecycles; establishing environments and interfaces.
• Designing interfaces to external systems; researching OS problems and solutions.
• Troubleshooting OS issues with cross-team collaboration.
• Maintaining documentation on OS configuration and responsibilities.
