Lumen is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to design, secure, and operate Linux-based infrastructure for a classified federal program. The role emphasizes VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, and KVM environments, with DevOps duties and automation using Ansible, Bash, and Python.

Location is remote, open to candidates across the U.S., with 5–20% travel for on-site work and strong emphasis on security, monitoring, and scalable infrastructure management.

Qualifikationen

• Six or more years of Linux systems, infrastructure, network, security, or platform administration.
• Advanced administration experience with Ubuntu and RHEL.
• Strong CLI proficiency and Bash scripting.
• Experience designing and building production infrastructure from the ground up.
• Hands-on VMware ESXi, vCenter, and vSphere administration.
• Experience with KVM virtualization and Nessus vulnerability management.
• LDAP/AD integration and certificate/trust management knowledge.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, firewalls, switches, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience with Ansible and infrastructure automation.
• Python and Git familiarity.
• Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Zabbix, Elastic Stack).
• Active TS clearance with CI polygraph if required.

Aufgaben

• Design and build secure Linux infrastructure from requirements through production handoff.
• Install, configure, patch, and harden Ubuntu and RHEL systems.
• Perform advanced Bash-based administration and troubleshooting.
• Administer VMware ESXi, vCenter, and vSphere environments.
• Build and maintain KVM virtualization and migrations between platforms.
• Provision servers and integrate with network, storage, DNS, NTP, and security services.
• Manage LDAP/AD integration, certificates, and trust relationships.
• Oversee SSL/TLS lifecycle and certificate management.
• Operate Nessus vulnerability scanning and remediation validation.
• Maintain monitoring/logging with Zabbix and Elastic Stack.
• Develop automation with Ansible, Bash, and Python; use GitLab CI/CD.
• Support REST API integrations and application troubleshooting.
