Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks Computing Systems Professionals to support, lead, and expand its hardware and software systems for the Theoretical (T) Division. Roles include designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux servers and applications, with opportunities to lead projects and guide staff.

Two levels exist: Computing Systems Professional 2 and 3, with responsibilities ranging from system administration to independent design and optimization of complex computing infrastructure,

Qualifications

• Experience with Ethernet networking, including administration, and management, and demonstrated ability to configure and manage Ethernet switching and routing hardware.
• Demonstrated experience formulating and testing hypotheses, evaluating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to technical problems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented approach, ability to work in a team and with diverse customers, and follow-up to ensure satisfaction.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience with technical documentation and technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Establish, administer, and troubleshoot production Linux servers and related peripherals.
• Lead computing infrastructure projects, evaluate emerging technologies, and optimize resources for research needs.
• Provide guidance to customers and staff and ensure compliance with cybersecurity and operational standards.
