Job summary

DMI, a leading provider of digital services, seeks a Senior Linux/Unix Systems Engineer to support the FTC in Washington, DC. You will be the senior technical authority for the FTC Linux platform, designing, engineering, and modernizing the RHEL and Oracle Linux environment and mentoring administrators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and eight or more years of progressive Linux/Unix administration and engineering experience.
• A minimum of three years in a senior/lead role with design and architecture ownership for an enterprise Linux environment.
• Senior-level RHEL administration and Oracle Linux knowledge.
• Experience automating with Ansible or similar tools and using Red Hat Satellite.
• Experience with major OS migrations and platform modernization.
• Strong networking, virtualization, scripting, and version control skills.
• Security frameworks including CIS, STIG, FISMA, and NIST SP 800-53 knowledge.
• U.S. citizenship and eligible for a Public Trust background clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering and architecture decisions for the FTC Linux estate, including server builds and platform standards.
• Design and maintain enterprise patch and configuration management workflows, automating repeated tasks.
• Lead OS lifecycle migrations, including RHEL 7/8/9 and Oracle Linux, with risk assessment and rollback planning.
• Develop and enforce security baselines, vulnerability remediation, and compliance evidence.
• Provide incident escalation and perform root cause analyses with corrective actions.
• Mentor administrators and contribute to engineering design documents and SOPs.
• Operate and sustain Linux servers, monitor performance, backups, and security updates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and government stakeholders on technical planning.
