Job summary

CHAOS Industries is seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator with deep Linux expertise to design, build, secure, and operate the Linux infrastructure used by engineering and program teams. You will maintain uptime, patching, and compliance in a defense environment, acting as a technical lead for Linux systems engineering and mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, IS, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of enterprise Linux administration (RHEL/Ubuntu/Debian).
• Strong command-line, systemd, networking, storage, and performance tuning.
• Scripting in Bash and Python; automation with Ansible.
• Experience hardening Linux and meeting DISA STIG, CIS, NIST/ CMMC.
• Identity integration with AD/LDAP/Kerberos; SSH and privileged access control.
• Patching, monitoring, backup, DR, and incident root-cause analysis.
• Leadership, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.
• U.S. person status for ITAR/EAR.

Responsibilities

• Architect, administer, and maintain Linux server environments (on‑prem, virtual, and cloud).
• Automate builds and patching with Ansible, shell, and Python.
• Create hardened images per DISA STIG and CIS baselines.
• Manage storage, NFS, DNS, firewalls, and tuning.
• Integrate with AD/LDAP/Kerberos; enforce SSH keys and MFA.
• Deploy Linux workloads in Azure/AWS; support containers.
• Lead incidents; perform root‑cause analysis and fixes.
• Mentor junior staff; set technical standards.
• Lead infrastructure projects and migrations.
• Own backup, DR, and test restores.
• Monitor health with centralized tools; remediation with security teams.
• Support audits with documentation.
• Review designs; coordinate maintenance windows.
• Evaluate tools; contribute to roadmap.
• Create runbooks and diagrams.
• On‑call rotations; after-hours maintenance.
• Travel up to 10%.
