Job summary

CHAOS Industries is seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator to design, secure, and operate Windows and Azure cloud infrastructure in a defense-oriented environment. You will lead infrastructure engineering, mentor staff, and own core platforms, with limited travel and on-call responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in enterprise Windows Server and Azure, deep AD/Entra ID expertise, and a strong scripting and automation background, aligned with NIST/CMMC/compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of progressive experience administering enterprise Windows Server and Azure.
• Deep expertise with AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Entra ID IAM, incl. MFA.
• Experience designing Azure solutions with VMs, VNets, storage, RBAC, and hybrid connectivity.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting to automate administration at scale.
• Experience patch management, monitoring, backup and DR, with testing restores.
• Experience hardening systems in regulated environments (NIST 800-171, CMMC).
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication; mentoring skills.
• U.S. person status for access to CUI/export-controlled data.

Responsibilities

• Architect, administer, and maintain Windows Server environments.
• Design, deploy, and manage Azure resources for gov and commercial clouds using IaC.
• Administer Active Directory, Entra ID, GPO, DNS, DHCP, and cert services.
• Lead incident response as technical lead; perform root-cause analysis.
• Mentor junior staff and set team standards.
• Lead infra projects from planning to delivery across sites.
• Develop automation with PowerShell and scripting tools.
• Own backup, DR, and business continuity; conduct restore tests.
• Support compliance with CMMC, NIST 800-171, FedRAMP; maintain logs.
• Review designs; manage changes; communicate maintenance windows.
• Evaluate tools and contribute to roadmaps, capacity, budget inputs.
• Support Microsoft 365 and endpoint management with service desk.
• Create runbooks and architecture diagrams.
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance.
• Travel up to 10%.
• Physical: sedentary; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
