Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Linux Engineer to maintain a Red Hat Enterprise Linux infrastructure across multiple enclaves, conducting monthly patch cycles and STIG compliance. You will work with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and help standardize baseline templates while coordinating with developers and system owners.

The role requires strong leadership and project-management abilities in mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 12–15 years of experience, or equivalent
• Active TS/SCI government clearance and ability to obtain DHS EOD
• 10+ years of Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration, configuration, troubleshooting, hardening, and lifecycle management
• Experience supporting Linux across multiple enclaves or classification levels (classified/unclassified)
• Experience administering Red Hat Satellite Server (repository management, content views, lifecycle environments, host collections, activation keys, subscriptions, provisioning, patch deployment)
• Strong experience planning and executing monthly patch cycles for enterprise Linux environments
• Strong understanding of patch management strategies, vulnerability remediation, and change management processes
• In‑depth knowledge of STIG compliance and Linux security controls
• Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and secure system administration practices
• Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain maintenance windows across environments
• Familiarity with ITIL, change management, configuration management, and incident management practices
• Experience developing standard operating procedures, patch plans, and compliance documentation

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage Red Hat Satellite Server infrastructure for software management, patching, and lifecycle management across enclaves
• Plan, coordinate, and execute monthly patch cycles, including repository management, errata review, deployment, and post-patching reporting
• Manage Satellite Server content views, environments, activation keys, host collections, subscriptions and patch baselines
• Adhere to ITIL, change, configuration, and incident management practices
• Administer Linux systems across classified and unclassified environments with proper segregation
• Ensure STIG compliance through assessments, audits, vulnerability reviews and remediation
• Collaborate with security teams to identify vulnerabilities and remediation plans in DHS/DoD/NIST contexts
• Support vulnerability management by reviewing scans and documenting remediation actions
• Maintain RHEL baseline templates (STIG profiles, logging, auditing)
• Define monitoring standards for RHEL using SolarWinds or similar tools
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into Linux, automation, and patch-management solutions
• Implement patch automation strategies to minimize downtime and disruption
• Troubleshoot complex RHEL, Satellite Server, patching, and compliance issues
• Maintain comprehensive configuration and change documentation
• Participate in maintenance windows and post‑patch reviews
• Stay current with Linux automation, patch-management trends and security practices
• Provide technical guidance to Tier 2 teams to share knowledge and improve processes
