Job summary

Insight Global seeks a senior Linux Engineer to design, administer, and harden Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments for a mission-critical federal program in Georgia. This hands-on role requires mentoring two contractors, leading migrations, and implementing automation with Ansible and Satellite.

Exposure to AWS, GitLab, and container runtimes is a plus. The candidate must have 10+ years of Linux experience and a current Red Hat certification, with the ability to obtain Public Trust clearance

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with Linux/UNIX systems and interoperability with Windows.
• Current Red Hat certification (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, or RHCA).
• Strong scripting skills in BASH, Perl, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience with Ansible, RHEL Satellite, and other automation tools.
• Familiarity with Mirantis Container Runtime, AWS, and GitLab.
• On-call Requirement: Participation in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Splunk experience.
• Mirantis Container Runtime (Docker) experience.
• Windows/Linux interoperability experience.
• Experience supporting federal government environments.
• Experience working in highly regulated or FISMA-compliant environments.
• Experience supporting geographically dispersed environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux server environments.
• Perform Linux administration and operations and maintenance activities from the command line.
• Lead RHEL migrations, upgrades, patching, and system implementation efforts.
• Use Ansible, Red Hat Satellite, and related automation tools to deploy updates and standardize system configurations.
• Manage package deployment and patching across geographically dispersed Linux systems.
• Review security scan results and remediate vulnerabilities based on severity and required timelines.
• Respond quickly to critical vulnerabilities and apply emergency patches when necessary.
• Harden Linux operating systems according to DISA STIGs, NIST, CIS, and FISMA requirements.
• Configure and manage NFTables, Firewalld, IPTables, SELinux, DNS, NFS, PXE boot, and other core Linux services.
• Support physical server rooms and troubleshoot hardware-related issues, including failed drives, server components, and connectivity problems.
• Diagnose and resolve LAN/WAN performance, network, and server availability issues.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using BASH, Python, Perl, or JavaScript.
• Support Mirantis Container Runtime, AWS, GitLab, and related infrastructure tools.
• Maintain detailed technical documentation covering system configurations, designs, processes, troubleshooting procedures, and service records.
• Collaborate with security, network, infrastructure, and SOC teams to support mission-critical services.
• Mentor the two existing Linux contractors and provide senior-level technical direction to the team.
• Participate in an on-call rotation approximately one week every seven weeks.
• Respond to escalations from the 24/7/365 SOC when a critical server or infrastructure service is unavailable.
