Job summary

Themis Insight is seeking an Application Engineer 4 (Linux/DevOps) to join our Laurel, MD team. You will work across Linux VMs and Kubernetes clusters, maintaining Ansible playbooks and security hardening while collaborating with development teams.

Ideal candidates have TS/SCI with polygraph, strong Red Hat skills, and hands-on experience with OpenStack, AWS, VMware, and NiFi deployments. This role is on-site in Laurel, MD with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

TS/SCI with a Polygraph is required.
Strong Linux skills (RHEL 8/9) are required.
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Rancher for containerized workloads.
Familiarity with Apache NiFi or similar data integration tools.
Working knowledge of Ansible for automation and configuration management.
Hands-on experience managing VMs in OpenStack, VMware, or AWS.
Security hardening (STIG/SSP) and compliance documentation experience.
Ability to troubleshoot SSH, performance, and network-related issues.
Experience analyzing logs and root-causing VM/container/app issues.

Responsibilities

Manage Linux VMs across multiple hosting platforms and Kubernetes clusters.
Maintain Ansible playbooks and monitor cluster health through Rancher or Kubernetes.
Perform software updates, patching, and system hardening (YUM/enterprise repos).
Support Apache NiFi deployments and resolve connectivity or resource issues.
Provide operational support to development teams and end users.
Troubleshoot VM, container, and application performance issues.
Ensure security and compliance standards are met across platforms.
