Job summary

The Columbus Water Works is seeking a Full Time Technician in Columbus, GA to locate and mark underground water and sewer mains using GIS, GPS, maps, and electronic line location devices. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is the minimum requirement.
• One year of line locating experience or three years of water distribution or wastewater collection system experience required.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record required.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and work outside in all weather conditions required.
• Supervisory experience is preferred.
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certificates within one year of employment required.

Responsibilities

• Manages and directs workflow for all locate requests and coordinates with the Field Services Supervisor.
• Locates and marks underground water and sewer mains and service lines using GIS, GPS, maps, and line location devices.
• Interacts with contractors and customers to complete locate requests and assists with capital projects.
• Maintains records of locate work and ensures equipment is maintained.
• Reviews locate rules and regulations to stay updated on changes.
• Performs on-call duties and responds to emergencies.
• Assists Field Services Supervisor with coordinating, supervising, purchasing, and other duties.
• Orders, stocks, and issues PPE and equipment to team members.
