Job summary

Columbus Water Works is seeking a Locator to locate and mark underground water and sewer mains using GIS, GPS, and electronic locating devices. You will supervise four line locators, coordinate workflows, and assist with training while performing on-call duties and ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans with contractors, maintaining records, stocking PPE, and supporting the Field Services Supervisor with project execution in a demanding outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; one year line locating or three years water/wastewater experience preferred.
• Experience with GPS, GIS mapping, and electronic line locating devices preferred.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; outdoor work in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct workflow for locate requests and coordinate with Field Services Supervisor.
• Locate and mark underground water and sewer mains per guidelines; perform heavy manual labor.
• Interact with contractors and customers to complete locate requests and review plans with utilities.
• Maintain locate records, tickets, GPS data, and ensure equipment and supplies are stocked.
• Attend training and stay updated on locate rules; perform on-call duties; assist with coordinating and supervising.
