Job summary

The West Boise YMCA is seeking Senior Head Lifeguards to ensure safe swimming conditions in the pool and surrounding areas. This role requires leading lifeguard staff and meeting the responsibilities of Head Lifeguards.

We offer full-time (with benefits) or part-time opportunities. Schedule varies, including weekdays and weekends. Starting pay ranges from $16.00 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Age 18 years or older.
• Must differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue, green).
• Must pass standard safety drills with 80% average.
• Ability to coach and give feedback constructively.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong planning, time management, flexibility and organization.
• Adapt to multiple learning styles.
• Engage others and make all people feel welcome.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe environment through deck scanning, punctuality and quick, appropriate responses.
• Serve as Designated First Responder.
• Engage members with age-appropriate communication using the Y voice attributes.
• Develop relationships to help members meet YMCA goals.
• Adhere to Aquatics Leading Practice Manual.
• Provide feedback using the Y voice attributes when needed.
• Build relationships with members, participants and volunteers.
