Job summary

The City of El Segundo is seeking a part-time, non-benefited Senior Lifeguard to help ensure the safety and well-being of patrons at City aquatic facilities. This at-will, seasonal position requires strong lifeguarding experience, leadership, and a commitment to a positive aquatic experience.

Schedule includes weekday shifts and weekend options. Responsibilities include leading part-time Aquatics staff, enforcing safety rules, performing rescues and first aid, basic pool maintenance, and

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• One year of lifeguard experience or two summers of lifeguard experience, including teaching swim lessons.
• Current American Red Cross certifications: First Aid, CPR & AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training; Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate part-time Aquatics staff.
• Enforce safety rules and perform rescues and first aid as needed.
• Perform basic pool maintenance and oversee pool chemistry every two hours.
• Coordinate daily staff schedules and aquatic activities.
• Attend in-service trainings and follow supervisor directions.
