Job summary

NFP, an Aon company, seeks an experienced life insurance underwriter to tackle complex cases and influence outcomes beyond traditional underwriting. You will partner with advisors, carrier underwriters, and internal teams to position high-value cases and develop creative strategies.

Qualifications

• College degree required; advanced degree a plus.
• Minimum 8–10 years of progressive underwriting experience.
• Licenses/certifications: Life & Health License; FALU completed; CLU pursued preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior underwriting consultant on complex and impaired-risk life cases.
• Evaluate underwriting risk factors and develop case-specific strategies.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with advisors, carrier teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Guide cases through the underwriting process and coordinate evidence collection.
• Advocate for favorable outcomes through negotiations and strategic positioning.
• Provide expertise on carrier philosophies, risk appetites, and marketplace opportunities.
• Contribute to thought leadership, advisor education, and underwriting best practices.
