Job summary

General Motors Corporation seeks a Principal Systems Engineer for the AV Sensing Design team to lead lidar technology and system-level decisions across multi-modality sensing suites. You will drive the technology path from optical design to production integration, collaborating with perception, localization, simulation, and vehicle teams to ensure scalable, robust lidar performance in consumer vehicles.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Applied Physics or related field.
• 13+ years of experience in remote sensing, lidar development, photonic systems, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy for lidar development as part of autonomy program multi-modality sensing suites.
• Lead trade studies considering performance, cost, and integration for next-gen lidar development.
• Evaluate prototype and production data to identify improvements.
• Collaborate with production teams and vendors to realize lidar designs in production.
• Define lidar performance requirements to achieve autonomy capabilities across broad ODDs.
