Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Cranberry Township, PA invites a Senior Licensing Engineer to contribute to licensing and regulatory strategy for the US nuclear fleet. You will report to the Operating Plants Licensing Manager for Global Licensing and support growth in global nuclear power with a US focus.

Hybrid work options (about 2 days in the office) are available at Cranberry Woods, PA, Rock Hill, SC, or Columbia, SC, with responsibilities including drafting licensing documents,

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in engineering or licensing.
  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of NRC regulations and nuclear industry guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Create licensing documents for submittal to customers and regulators.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop licensing inputs.
  • Participate in meetings to present technical material to regulators and customers.
  • Communicate status of work to technical lead and management.
  • Work within scope, budget and schedule requirements.
  • Evaluate design changes for regulatory compliance.
  • Resolve emergent issues to protect license stability.
  • Mentor team members on licensing processes.

About The Role

As a Senior Licensing Engineer, you will contribute to the licensing and regulatory strategy of the operating nuclear fleet, ensuring compliance with domestic and international standards. You will report to the Operating Plants Licensing Manager for Global Licensing and will directly support the exciting growth in global nuclear power, with a focus on the US fleet.

Hybrid work arrangements (typically 2 days in an office) are available at one of the Westinghouse US Engineering Office locations including Cranberry Woods, PA, Rock Hill, SC, or Columbia, SC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create licensing documents for submittal to Westinghouse customers and regulatory agencies to support plant modifications
  • Collaborate and build relationships with multiple engineering teams to create licensing inputs
  • Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory meetings to present technical materials
  • Communicate nature and status of work performed to appropriate technical lead and management
  • Perform work within established scope, budgetary and schedule requirements
  • Evaluate engineering design changes for regulatory requirements
  • Help resolve emergent issues with the potential to improve an operating plant license
  • Mentor team members on licensing processes
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or Chemical)
  • Nuclear licensing skills - development of 10 CFR 50.59 evaluations, License Amendments, and topical reports
  • Familiar with NRC regulations and nuclear industry guidance, including technical specifications and regulatory guides
  • Familiar with nuclear power plant design, operation, and work processes
  • Established networks across several areas

Ability to travel within US (<10% travel expected to support customer, industry, or regulator activities).

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
