Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Licensing Engineer 2 to help deploy advanced nuclear technology and lead licensing efforts for new plant developments. You will shape regulatory strategies and ensure compliance with domestic and international standards, reporting to the New Plants Licensing Manager for Safety Analysis and Licensing.

The role supports hybrid work arrangements (2 days in the office) at US Engineering Office locations, including Cranberry Woods, PA, or Rock Hill, SC.

Qualifications

• Nuclear licensing skills such as 10 CFR 50.59 evaluations, license amendments, and topical reports.
• Familiar with NRC regulations and nuclear industry guidance.
• Knowledge of AP1000 design, operation and work processes.
• Ability to build networks across several areas.
• Experience collaborating with multiple engineering teams on licensing inputs.

Responsibilities

• Support senior engineers in creating licensing documents for submittals to customers and regulators.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to marshal licensing inputs and maintain alignment.
• Attend internal, customer, and regulatory meetings to present technical material.
• Communicate status of work to technical leads and management.
• Work within scope, budget, and schedule constraints.
• Evaluate design changes for regulatory compliance.

About The Role

As a Licensing Engineer 2 you will help deploy advanced nuclear technology, with a focus on Advanced Plant reactor projects. You will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the licensing and regulatory strategy for new nuclear plant development, ensuring compliance with domestic and international standards. You will report to the New Plants Licensing Manager for Safety Analysis, Risk Applications, and Licensing and will directly support the exciting growth in the Westinghouse Advanced Plant development globally.

Hybrid work arrangements (typically 2 days in an office) are available at one of the Westinghouse US Engineering Office locations including Cranberry Woods, PA or Rock Hill, SC.

Key Responsibilities

• Support more senior engineering personnel in development efforts creating licensing documents for submittal to Westinghouse customers and regulatory agencies, focused on new plant technologies
• Collaborate and build relationships with multiple engineering teams to create licensing inputs.
• Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory meetings to present technical materials
• Communicate nature and status of work performed to appropriate technical lead and management
• Perform work within established scope, budgetary and schedule requirements
• Evaluate engineering design changes for regulatory requirements

Qualifications:

• Typically 3+ years of experience
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (typically Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or Chemical)
• Nuclear licensing skills like development of 10 CFR 50.59 evaluations, License Amendments, and topical reports
• Familiar w/ NRC regulations and nuclear industry guidance
• Familiar w/ AP1000 design, operation, and work processes
• Establish networks across several areas.

Ability to travel within US and Globally (<10% travel expected to support customer, industry, or regulator activities)

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $69,200 to $86,500 per year.
