Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Licensing Engineer II to contribute to licensing and regulatory strategy for the US nuclear fleet, ensuring compliance with NRC and international standards. You will report to the Operating Plants Licensing Manager for Global Licensing and support growth in global nuclear power with a focus on the US.

Hybrid work arrangements are available, typically two days in an office at Cranberry Township, PA, with options in Rock Hill, SC, or Columbia, SC.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or Chemical).

Responsibilities

  • Support licensing documents for submittals to customers and regulators
  • Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to create licensing inputs
  • Participate in meetings to present technical materials
  • Communicate status of work to technical lead and management
  • Work within defined scope, budget, and schedule
  • Evaluate design changes for regulatory requirements
  • Help resolve issues affecting operating plant licenses

About The Role

As a Licensing Engineer ll you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the licensing and regulatory strategy of the operating nuclear fleet, ensuring compliance with domestic and international standards. You will report to the Operating Plants Licensing Manager for Global Licensing and will directly support the exciting growth in global nuclear power, with a focus on the US fleet.

Hybrid work arrangements (typically 2 days in an office) are available at one of the Westinghouse US Engineering Office locations including Cranberry Woods, PA, Rock Hill, SC, or Columbia, SC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support more senior engineering personnel in development efforts creating licensing documents for submittal to Westinghouse customers and regulatory agencies
  • Collaborate and build relationships with multiple engineering teams to create licensing inputs
  • Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory meetings to present technical materials
  • Communicate nature and status of work performed to appropriate technical lead and management
  • Perform work within established scope, budgetary and schedule requirements
  • Evaluate engineering design changes for regulatory requirements
  • Support the resolution of emergent issues with the potential to impact an operating plant license
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (typically Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or Chemical)
Beneficial
  • Nuclear licensing skills like development of 10 CFR 50.59 evaluations, License Amendments, and topical reports
  • Familiar w/ NRC regulations and nuclear industry guidance, including technical specifications and regulatory guides
  • Familiar w/ nuclear power plant design, operation, and work processes
  • Ability to travel within US (<10% travel expected to support customer, industry, or regulator activities)

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $69,200 to $86,500 per year.
