HBK Engineering is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with a PE License to oversee the technical execution of projects within a team of engineers and designers. The focus is on structural and geotechnical utility infrastructure designs to support HBK's expanding service offerings across power, renewables, telecom, gas, and municipal engineering sectors. The ideal candidate will drive client success through project execution, contributing to the growth and excellence of our organization.

Within HBK, the Senior Structural Engineer will provide technical oversight and daily management for structural and geotechnical engineering projects. This role requires a deep understanding of technical aspects, along with strong leadership and communication skills.

Our Structural Team’s services include design of structures such as poles, manholes, vaults, earth retention systems, and various foundations for electric vehicle charging projects, solar equipment, and utility supports. Onsite evaluations of transmission towers, manholes, vaults, and tunnels are also part of the work. HBK projects span the US, and our team is growing to meet increasing demand.

Job Responsibilities

1. Work on challenging assignments involving troubleshooting and solving engineering issues.
2. Prepare technical memos, reports, and construction specifications.
3. Interpret drawings, calculations, schematics, and reports.
4. Apply engineering theories and analysis to designs.
5. Work on various structures and foundations, including deep shafts and earth retention systems.
6. Conduct investigations, inspections, and analysis.
7. Perform engineering and value engineering with a focus on constructability.
8. Perform engineer-of-record responsibilities, including stamping drawings.

Project Execution & Quality Assurance

1. Ensure high-quality deliverables for clients.
2. Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
3. Support project managers in planning and monitoring.
4. Collaborate with other departments to align design activities.
5. Ensure client deliverables meet standards.

Leadership & Team Management

1. Lead project teams of engineers, designers, and field personnel.
2. Mentor and coach team members, fostering engagement and morale.
3. Ensure clear communication of engineering deliverables.

Client Relations

1. Maintain and grow client relationships.
2. Lead engineering responses to proposals.
3. Communicate project successes and feedback internally.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering with emphasis on structural/geotechnical engineering.
• 10+ years’ experience in structural/geotechnical engineering.
• PE Licensure (Pennsylvania required).

Essential Skills

• Licensed Structural Engineer or eligible via reciprocity.
• Knowledge of design codes (AISC, ASCE, UBC, IBC).
• Fundamental principles of structural and geotechnical engineering.
• Strong communication skills.
• Leadership experience.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Valued Skills

• Consulting background preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Knowledge of Deltek system.

Location & Compensation

Primary location: Philadelphia, PA. Other locations include Chicago, IL; Norristown, PA; Houston, TX; Denver, CO; Lake Mary, FL; Iowa City, IA.

Salary range: $115,000 - $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, life and AD&D, ancillary benefits, disability coverage, 401(k), paid time off, and more.
