Job summary

Trystum Sourcing Specialists is recruiting on behalf of a Houston customs brokerage client for a hands-on Licensed Customs Broker / Senior Entry Writer. The role requires preparing entries end-to-end, resolving CBP issues, and providing regulatory guidance to the import team.

You will oversee entry processing, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with CBP, 19 CFR, and PGA requirements, while maintaining strong customer relationships and documenting audit-ready files.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on customs brokerage or import-compliance experience.
• Current experience personally preparing customs entries from start to finish.
• Strong working knowledge of CBP regulations, 19 CFR, ACE, HTS classification, ISF, and PGA requirements.
• Experience processing both air and ocean imports.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, transmit, and monitor customs entries end to end — air, ocean, and border crossings.
• Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, arrival notices, and other entry documents.
• Enter and validate shipment data in Descartes or other brokerage systems.
• Prepare and transmit entry summaries and related documentation, including In‑Bond transactions.
• File and monitor ISF submissions and respond promptly to CBP activity and requests for information.
• Provide guidance on HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, admissibility, and special trade programs.
• Communicate directly with customers on missing documents and classification matters.
• Train and mentor junior staff on entry procedures and compliance.
