Job summary

The University of Chicago Library seeks three Assistant Heads of User Services to lead operations across Regenstein, Crerar, Eckhart, and Social Work Libraries. Reporting to the Head of User Services, you will supervise staff, manage access and circulation, and ensure consistent service standards while maintaining a secure scholarly environment.

This 100% onsite leadership role emphasizes training, policy enforcement, and collaboration with campus stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education: college or university degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Experience: 5–7 years in a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree; 5–7 years customer service in a high-volume library setting; supervisory experience; higher education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise union clerical staff, non-union circulation supervisors, and student employees.
Hire, onboard, schedule, payroll, coaching, performance evaluations.
Develop and maintain departmental documentation; provide staff training on customer service and privacy.
Oversee circulation, entry control, building security, and patron ticketing; ensure policy compliance.
