Job summary

The University of Chicago Library is seeking a supervisor for Regenstein and Mansueto Circulation to oversee clerical staff, enforce access policies, and support a scholarly environment. The role includes hiring and training student staff, answering patron questions, and maintaining circulation operations.

Reporting to the Head of Mansueto Circulation, you will manage daily workflows, ensure customer service excellence, and assist with emergencies and building operations.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
• College degree strongly preferred.
• Experience in a library or related environment.
• Previous experience directing or supervising the work of others.
• Significant customer service experience.
• Experience with MS Office, email, and internet work applications.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the work of clerical staff and serves as supervisor for Regenstein or Mansueto Library.
• Enforces opening/closing procedures and reports facility issues.
• Handles patron questions, fines, recalls, and access services issues.
• Trains, supervises, and tracks attendance of student attendants (approx. 20).
• Manages circulation workflow and ASRS system operations.
• Coordinates interlibrary loan requests and document delivery.
