Job summary

Riverside County Library System is seeking a Branch Manager 3 to oversee day-to-day operations across multiple library sites in California. You will lead staff, manage services, ensure policy adherence, and support community engagement while upholding equity and accessibility.

Qualifications

• MLIS preferred; BA/BS required.
• Three years supervisory experience preferred.
• Three years of progressively responsible library managerial experience and/or administrative functions preferred.
• Experience in a role that requires frequent interaction with customers preferred.
• Experience analyzing and applying reports and data (financials, usage, demographics, trends) is preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; able to communicate well with people of all ages, demographics, ethnic backgrounds and ability levels.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the library branch(es), including project management, collection management, planning and prioritizing services, communicating effectively, leading teams, overseeing facilities and equipment.
• Coach and develop employees, establishing high standards of performance. Deliver recognition, support ongoing professional development and provide constructive and timely feedback.
• Practice effective problem solving, analyzing complex situations to identify underlying issues and develop creative solutions.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the community to enhance the image of the library, promote reading and encourage increased library usage.
• Work closely with Library leadership to plan, implement and promote the library strategic plan.
• Foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, and a positive teamwork-oriented environment.
• Know, understand and administer the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library; support client discretion of materials available at your local library(ies).
• Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.
